Two Reasons to Use a Heavy Haulage Service When Transporting Large Business Stock

Posted on: 14 December 2021

If the stock your business sells is very large and you need to transport some of it across a long distance, you should not try to do this yourself with just a rental truck. Instead, use a heavy haulage service. Here are two reasons why.

You'll be able to transport more of the stock in one trip

The biggest benefit of utilising a heavy haulage company's service is that you may be able to transport most, if not all of your bulky stock in one trip. This is because the trucks used by this type of company have trailers and containers that are very long, tall and wide, and can, therefore, hold lots of bulky items. As such, even if, for example, you need to transport 200 large pieces of office equipment, a heavy haulage company could potentially have a truck that's big enough to stow all of this equipment and get it delivered in a single trip.

In contrast, if you rented a van, you might find that you can only fit half or a third of the large stock you need to transport into it, which might result in you having to make two or three trips in total. This could not only use up your valuable time but might also displease your customers or clients who are waiting for this stock, as they would probably prefer to receive all of it in one delivery.

Your stock is less likely to be damaged when it's loaded and unloaded

The other reason why you would benefit from this service is that your stock is much less likely to be damaged when it's loaded and unloaded from the vehicle. Lifting bulky products onto a big vehicle and then removing them from it requires the right requirement, skills and strength. Heavy haulage drivers have all of these things and also have plenty of experience with this aspect of transporting goods. In fact, many drivers will have loaded and unloaded clients' large, heavy products countless times. Because of this, these drivers don't make the mistakes that you might make if you were to transport the stock yourself.

They know how to handle heavy items and will not, for example, overestimate their strength and try to push an excessively heavy item up the truck's ramp without help. They also won't attempt to slide a large object down the ramp without using equipment (such as straps and ropes) that will keep it stable and stop gravity from causing to tumble to the ground.
